Removed plates, not much room left.

I removed the plates between the axle and springs, hooked up my fiver and checked the space between the axle and rubber bumper. NOT much. Did anyone have a problem bottoming out? It looks better and the fiver is more level so I will give it a try.

I can't say much about removing the plates but if someone has some that they want to dump off I would take them.
I run with a lot of weight all the time.
It would lift it a little.

Actually, I have thought about putting just one more of those plates each size, just to give a little more space when hauling since I put a leveling kit on

Early reports on the air bag setups for the 3rd gen trucks were not very good. They really limited suspension travel and caused a very poor ride. If this has changed I might be interested. Anybody have any new info. I think if you search for air bag you can find the older thread I am refering to.

I looked a air bags but its a lot of money and the fact that I would not need to use them for what they had built them for.
I used them in the past with a camper and they are killer. You load the camper add more weight then air up the bags>> then off load and let air out.
With the rig I got now I have a camper cover and carry junk inside so there is not much weight difference and it rides real good.
So as you said it would be very cheep plus the ride will not change at all.
With as many people that are taking them off I could pick them up cheep.

It looks like no one has had any problems with lack of space between the axle and the frame, because all the response I received has been lifting not lowering.

Sorry
I think I did get off the topic.
Most of the people that have been dealing with it that I know of had 4x4's and no problem like the problem you are having.
Maybe someone with a 2wd will speak up.
