For the '03, the Dome light switch is integral to the Door Ajar Switch.
the removal and installation procedure.

The door ajar switches are integral to the door
latches on each door. The switches close a path to
ground for the Instrument Cluster when a door is
opened.
The door ajar switches cannot be repaired and, if
faulty or damaged, the door latch unit must be
replaced. Refer to the Body section under Doors for
latches on each door. The switches close a path to

Check your wires in the door jambs. If you pull back the black boot and disconnect the square plug in the B pillar you can then get a better look at the door lock wires that go to the latch. These same wires control the dome light control for that door. My guess is you have a wire that either has the insulation being pulled back and shorting out or one of the wires may be broken.
