[QUOTE=bansh-eman;2592971]Drizz,

I am well ahead of my time. I am just trying to get fresh fluids because my truck sat for a while when I was deployed. I probly don't need to get all of the fluid out, just one of those things that is good to know I guess.

Bansh-eman,

Thanks for your service!

De-ionized water is the choice over distilled (which has problems for cooling systems).

I go to Cummins for FLEETGUARD products.

ES Compleat (I buy the premix)

http://www.cumminsfiltration.com/htm..._compleat.html

I also use test strips, and, at next flush will use their cleaning product prior to removing radiator to externally clean fins and replace hoses/fasteners.

I didn't see "HOAT" anywhere in that Cummins page like our Dodge manual says. Did I miss it?

I have never heard that distilled could cause problems in cooling systems. What kind of problems can it cause?

Edit: I just read something in the tech facts thing and it seems to be backwards from what I have always heard. It says using tap water is fine because it wont leak the metals. I have always heard not to use tap because all the minerals will cause diposits and create sludge. Which is true?

Valvolines website FAQ's for Zerex says that distilled water is the best to use. Here's the link, question 3.

You'll be fine. I just did mine last week and she took right around 5 gallons total... 2.5 antifreeze/2.5distilledH20.

Wow, that was fun. Just completed mine and I drained 5 gallons and installed 5 gallons. Kind of surpised me really, considering the manual says it holds 7 gallons total. So, I guess that means there was still quite a bit of fluid inside the engine itself.

I think I'm probably coolant rich, certainly richer than 50%. What I added was between 65-70%, but that would be diluted by anything that was still in the engine. Should be safe.

Took it for a spin and ran it up to 194 degrees according the Attitude monitor. I'll re-check after it cools all the way down, to see if I need to top anything off.

I just wanted to update all to clear up misformation I had gotton......

I have called peak antifreeze tech support again.. Got a different guy on the ph this time.. He says peak doesn't make a HOAT coolant.. He says Zerex is the only company that he knows of that makes or has a HOAT coolant & they ( Zerex) probably makes it for chrysler..Zerex says HOAT on the container... Found it at napa $10.50 per gal. 100% coolant. not 50/50.. 50/50 was about $10.30 per gal

I topped it off a few times the next few days. Not much. Maybe 3-4 cups total.

Topping off through the radiator or overflow tank?

Radiator once cooled down of course. I noticed there will be some space on top of radiator that will not fill and it must be for expansion of fluid when hot. Last top off and most ended up in the overflow next time I checked.

I'm sorry hector, I picked up the Zerex at Napa and the water at chinamart. My mistake.
