Quite possibly the dumbest question EVER.
This is probably the dumbest question ever asked on this board but this is the first vehicle ive ever owned with a warranty. My question is, can you take your truck to ANY dodge dealer to get warranty work done or does it have to be the one you purchased it from? If you can go to any, do you have to get any ifo transfered over from the dealer? Sorry for such a stupid question but I just moved about 30 miles away from my dealer and dont want to have to take it there for work.
Thanks

ANY dealer should do warranty work. The thing I have seen ( and it does happen) is that their regular customers will get priority. This isn't really wrong, but you may not get it in for service as fast as you might with the dealer that you purchased it from. No paperwork or anything to transfer. Good luck!

The only thing jumping out at me in his sig would be the Predator. Everything else would seem legit in the eyes of the dealer to me. As long as the stock tune is in he should be ok save for the fact that it will leave a foot print in the ECM should the dealer need to start digging into the ECM with a scanner.

Unfortunately (the world we live in...), some dealers are like some insurance companies - they will try to find a way NOT to provide coverage. That is not an indictment of all, but as stated, you may get a "leg up" if there is any question from the dealer you purchased from (if you bought from a dealer), or even where you have routine service done. If you don't have a warranty booklet in the truck, you can probably gather warranty data from the Dodge website. Nowadays they all seem connected with computers, but some info may not be available to every dealer.
Best of luck.

If the dealership is any good at all they will happily take you in for warranty work and try to make you happy. This is how they can build a relationship with you and hope you buy your next vehicle from them. If they give you a lot of hassle just remind them of the fact they lost a potential customer and find a dealer that is good.

What a disappointment , I was all set for the dumbest question ever asked and you come up with this , I know you can do better .
Great question , but I have a few suggestions like take a look at there inventory and see if they sell many trucks . If they don't sell them they probably do not know how to work on them . You do not have an engine problem but if you did spend a little time talking to there diesel mechanic before handing him the keys . I went way out of my way to purchase from a dealer with a better service department and because of that every time I need a tow I pay between 60 and 100 dollars but believe me it is worth it after I tried another dealer . Another thing to watch for if you take it to one dealer and he screws up the job you will be stuck with him because no one else will touch it . I went back 6 times to a dealer for one universal because I thought it was so simple of a job no one could screw it up , boy was I wrong . I ended up with a vibration after words that shock the whole truck that the service manger and mechanic said they did not feel . In the end I gave up on them and fixed the original problem my self plus the one they caused . It cost me way over what a little drive would have cost , our even a tow .
The warranty on these trucks is a joke plane and simple and there is no place to go to complain about it , hopefully with a change in the sales number of trucks things will change .
The loner went , the free tow went and in most cases your truck is not even cleaned or taken care of well in service so I suggest you find some one who will do it right the first time .

I would agree with the above on modifications... Even if it is going in for a radio issue, they can and will void your warranty for after market accessories. Even if you return the box to stock, it still leaves an imprint as I understand ( Smarty is the only one that doesn't????? So Ive heard)... Good luck and I would post where your from and see if anybody can recommend a good dealer in your area..

With few exceptions most dealers prefer only to do warranty work on the vehicles they sold. I think even the manual says to take it back to the dealer you bought it to have warranty work done. But not everybody does and you don't have to if you don't want to. Just remember if you take it somewhere else where you didn't buy the truck a lot of them will make you wait longer while they take care of their other regular customers. If you're lucky the new service dept will work with you and treat you right and maybe win over a new customer but I wouldn't count on it.

I've had problems with warranty work being done at the "5 Star" dealer I purchased my truck from (and sent an additional 13 trucks sales too) .. I waited 25 yrs years to buy a new truck, and sometimes I think I should have waited another 25..LOL

Thats a dang good question.. Here is my experience.. My truck as noted in my sig is highly modded.. For some reason this week my temperature sending unit went bad?? The dealer had never heard of that.. I was pulled over on the side of the road with my 30' work trailer in tow. At first I thought it was a thermostat.. Called the dealer they didn't have one called the local parts place.. They had it for $25. My wife picked it up and brought it to me.. Got going again bam 245 degrees !! What the heck.. Called the dealer and also called Mark (53 ******, Will WAP, and Nathan Wright Idaho CTD) Talked to them through what was happening and we all agreed.. Limped to the dealer.. 7 miles or so.. pulled into the service departement, trailer and all, and we kept the truck running to see if we could get it to cool.. Hooked up the scan tool and pulled P0217... Cooloant to hot... Of course they knew the truck was modded he was looking at 5 guages in front of him!! Popped the hood... And he stood there and said
WOW!!!!!!!!!! Of course he was referring to the Twins!! No one around here has them.. THey had everyone out there looking at the truck!! I said well of course there's no warranty and he said you know what all of your mods have nothing to do with the coooling system so your good to go!!! I couldn' t believe it.. They called me the next morning and had it ready!!! Of course the tech had to take it for some test drives!!! My point being is when I call the service rep knowns my number and says hey Shane!!! I am always in there talking bs and I have a good customer/dealer relationship even though I did not buy the truck from them!!!
