Post is better than nothing. Marine diesels are post (water cooled exhaust manifolds). Still provides valuable information.

In my 94 I had both,the post was very slow responding to increases and would see as much as 600 degree differance when hitting a big grade under load.

Pre-turbo in mine. From about 300 degrees at idle to over 1400 if I push it.

Mine is pre but my neighbor has his post for his reasoing of if the tip of the probe broke it whould go through the turbo. Just sounds like a good excuse to upgrade to something bigger.

most decent probes will go to 2200*, so the only way a tip is coming off is if something hits it.
