Question Punctured fuel tank (needs replacing) new LP?

Hello all,
I've got a punctured fuel tank that I have a temp fix (2 part epoxy putty).

My question is: Since I've got ~60K miles on the truck (2005), should I replace the LP now? It seems to be working ok right now, but from what I read, when they do go out, you have to drop the tank to get to it.

Maybe I should go with an external LP? Suggestions? Links to any good posts?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think the newer 5.9s had the trouble the older ones with VPs did with the stock lift pump. I went through 4. And once I added some mods the little pump couldn't keep up. I ended up with a frame mount walbro kit from GDP, awesome. I like the fact that it was frame mounted and easy to access if it ever failed.

Do you plan on doing more mods? Do you have a demand for more fuel than stock?

Well if you've got a punctured tank I'd look at replacing it with one of the larger aftermarket fuel tanks, ex. Titan, Transfer Flow, etc. If you replace the tank i would switch to an aftermarket LP, ex. Fass, Airdog, etc...do everything all at once so that your not having to drop the tank again later to put in a new LP.

While I agree that doing everything at once is efficient, dropping the tank is not a big deal. As long as the tank is mostly empty, dropping the tank takes 20 minutes in the driveway. With a helper and air tools it takes 10. If you don't have a need for an aftermarket lift pump, I see no reason to replace the one you have. Now, if you want to, there is nothing wrong with that...
