problems cooling, possibly clutch fan????
If I go get into my truck and start it up and turn on the a/c, I don't get cold air. If I hold the rpm's up a little for 5-10 seconds it will start to cool. I popped the hood and noticed the fan is just barely turning and I can touch it with my hand (carefully) and stop it from turning while the truck is still running. Is this normal or does the fan "tighten up" after it runs longer. I had my a/c recharged this spring so the refridgerant to good. Also noticed my engine temps spiking to 220 pretty easily pulling up almost any hill. Taking off going up the ramp to get on the highway pulling a 10k load will run my temp up to about 220 before I get up to highway speed. Is this my fan crapping out? How do I test to know?

The ECM tells the clutch when to engage. Check for codes. If you have an issue a code will pop up. Can't remember the code number. If no code then the fan is working properly. The ECM programing on first startup and the A/C on is not good at all, hence the aftermarket pusher electric fan I installed on my condensor.... Problem solved.
