prefer 03-05 interior over 06-08?
This is completely unrelated to the problems I have been having with my '07, but did anyone find the previous interior more comfortable and better laid out?
I found my '04 seats had better headrests and more lumbar support and liked the dash layout and climate controls a little better. Haven't quite gotten used to the new design, and not so sure anything has actually been improved.
Wondering if there is a way to crank out the lumbar support on my drivers seat, it's pretty weak

Me and the wife agree that the 03-05 interior was nicer and was a lot more like our old 2001. However, that meant if we were to upgrade to a newer truck it would already be that much older. We settled on the 06.
The 06-08 interior isn't all that bad, but I agree that the older interior seems a little nicer and less gimicky. They went more for looks than function I'd say.
Oh, and man do I miss the black interior, Im looking to maybe create my own black interior since we hate light colors on the inside.
Well, thats my opinion. Have a good one.

I actually like the dash layout better on the 06+ trucks better, but I like the 03-05 seats better for comfort. And yes I also wish the 06+ trucks had a black interior option.

i miss my 04 black interior. these 06 seats suck. I added 2 inches of foam between the pad and spring it helped with sleepy but cheeks, but every time i look at pictures of my 04 interior it makes me wish I would have kept it.

06-08 in my oponion are awful dodge really went with a 4th grade desighn. I mean plastic wood paneling the passenger side dash is awful looking. I like the the look of my 05 alot better. I mean if I buy another truck I am seriosly thinking of a ford or chevy becasue of the interior desighn. The seats are just awful too. The cloth seats if you spill something on there it stains them immideatly. They really need to scrap that and give some more options and desighns. Ford has so many desighns you can choose from like carbon fiber and other stuff. Does dodge have anything other then that plastic wood crap?

I got the leather in my 07 and I think the new interior is great EXCEPT for the stupid design for the cupholders which caused me to have to buy a Genos Cup holder. I like the Genos cupholder but it can be a bit of a hassle dealing with it. If I'm shifting hard the shifter will hit it on occasion and if you are not careful you may have fingers getting crunched too. Other than that I love my truck...
I had the cloth in my 03 and it was very comfortable and I liked the whole layout of the dash too....

The 3rd GEN seats took only a small amount of time to get used to. Coming from a 2000 RAM 2500 Quad Cab and into my 2003 RAM 2500 Quad Cab, I found that the 3rd GEN seats were a little shorter in the seat portion. Over time, I got used to them.
I ordered my 2007.5 RAM 3500 MegaCab with bucket seating; they are the best seats ever, especially with the bun warmers. From a fabric standpoint, the 2003>>2005 cloth seats look best; I'm not a big fan of the 2006 & newer YES seating.

I know that most people complained about the 05 seats, but mine were very comfortable especially after I put the leather covers on them. My 07 seats are uncomfortable on the seat where it crosses the back of your thighs, and it might be because they are new, but the foam seems alot stiffer in relation to the 05.
I like the 07 dash which has the silver color hilights, and the cupholders aren't bad, but the 05 with the adjustable arm were better.

Hey now.............I take offense to that "plastic wood crap" remark.
The plastic wood crap is still alive & well in 2007 in the Laramie trucks.

Yes you can switch out the fake wood inserts for the silver inserts, but, Im sure as soon as you see the price of them at the dealer youll learn to like the fake wood alot better.

You can get them at leepartsonline.com for a good price. They are a dealer in New England somewhere and that's where I got my dash bezel for my REC navigation. I opted for the wood look since I had that all over the rest of the interior already...

I mean they looks fine but if one were to make inserts out of burl maple it would look much better.

ya, the wood does sort of look silly in these trucks but you could always just paint them with some automotive paint. LMC truck, probably the Eastwood Company and others offer interior paints that would work. You could probably take them down to a paint shop for the cost of the Dodge replacements. Plus if you DIY the paint and don't like it, just strip it and try again.
I do like the dash layout better than the 03-05 trucks, haven't had personal experience with the seats, but sometimes the old interior struck me as a dungeon ... it was so dark in there.
