Power steering issues
I have a 2004 Ram 2500 with a 6 speed manual transmission. For the second time in less than two years I have had to replace everything involved with the power steering on my truck, pump, gear box, hydoboost, hoses. The first time it was done by Chrysler at no cost to me (200 miles out of warranty) this time I was not so lucky. I got the truck back today and it seems to be working alright but I noticed that the power steering resovoir appears to be building up pressure, the air escapes when you take the cap off. Is this normal or is it something I need to be concerned with? I'd appreciate any advice I can get.
Thanks

I did a search and I think I may have found my problem with the pressure building in the resovoir. I would still like to hear if anyone else has had the type of steering system failure that I have had.

Yup my 03 did the same thing, had if I remember correctly 3 power steering pumps and 2 power steering boxes replaced. They blamed it on my driving habits at first untill I went in and complained "I went to check the power steering level and the cap blew my hand upwards" .
After the last time they replaced everything it worked fine. Not sure what changed.

I am having issues with my steering now also. Is there not supposed to be any pressure when you take off the cap? MIne almost takes my hand with it. And now my steering is real tight and I hear that moaning noise from the pump when i steer. do you all think my pump is shot?

Have your mechanic tell you how he is bleeding the system for air. There is a TSB out for Bleeding Technique that requires a vacuum pump for the 05 model years. I would believe it should work for yours too. (http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2005/19-008-05.htm)

Now for the brakes!
We finally got all the steering components on and it seems to be working fine but now around 30 miles an hour I start to feel a shudder and it is a little more noticable when I apply the brakes. It wasn't doing this before I switched out everything. Do you guys think that air in the system could be causing this?
