power door lock gremlin

My 2005 3500 SLT is locking itself. (I think it fears it is about to be replaced) The truck does not need to be running. The locking episodes have happened in numerous locations around town. Basically you close the doors unlocked and at some random point in time, but not always, the doors lock as if the keyless lock button has been pushed? I have read of one other incedent like this but all the person stated was that they were headed for the dealer.

My 08 does that also. No rhyme or reason, just when it feels like it. Nobody has figured it out yet. I just learned to take the keys with me. Interested in following this.

I heard about this from someone at a fuel pump one day a few weeks ago. They had to get AAA or some lockout company to unlock their truck. The guy that unlocked their truck said Dodge trucks are about 3rd behind some Acura model and some other import for door locking unexplainably by themselves.

My 05 would do the same thing. On mine it seemed to be related to rain and snow. I read that the key activated switch located in the drivers side door could be bad. I removed the door pannel (good instructions at the top of this forum) and then removed the switch. I wanted to replace it, but I ordered the wrong one. Being that I had it apart, I decided to disassemble the switch. It was corroded inside. I cleaned up the contacts and packed it with dielectric grease. I made the repair last summer, and so far no problems. It only took about a half hour to do the repair.

Also, pull the boot that covers the wires from the door to the Pillar, On mine all four doors had broken or cracked wires inside the middle of the boot, perhaps one is shorting out another??
