the poor man's exhaust tip

took some 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000 and 1500 grit sandpaper to the exhaust tip and polish...dont look too bad for just using stuff i had laying around the garage

now it shines

That looks great. I should do that to mine. How long did it take you from start to finish?

i didnt get it as good as i wanted to, i'll probably end up going over it again...but to get it to the point where it is at in those pics, it took me about an hour

I use to do that. The shine would last for about 6 months or so and would have to hit it again with some metal polish.

that aint bad, every 6 months take five minutes to shine it up a bit

what would the issue be with bare stainless?

stainless and aluminum can both be polished to a mirror finish. here is the under hood of my mustang w/ the super coupe blower (all the polished stuff used to be grey powdercoated)

are you supposed to put a sealer or smoething on it, wont it start rusting in about 3, 2, 1, NOW?

i thought about do that to mine..

The stock exhaust system is aluminized steel, not stainless.

Get some high heat/engine clear enamel and shoot it on. Will keep it looking the same and wont rust.

I did that to several of my trucks over the years. It works and looks better than some clamp on stuff.Oh "Poor man's" 30-40 thousand dollar trucks and $4.20 a gallon. Kind of a oxymoron. Well we will be poor soon at $4.00 a gallon
