Murvin, if I did it right, I put 3 pictures of my engine data sticker in the member photos.
The best I could get around here was $300 under invoice plus the bug shield.
Hammer, sorry, no sisters.

I was just wondering, are the tail pipes a different size and shape on the 04 and 04.5? Maybe that would be a way to tell from the outside what engine is it the truck.

Justdirt,

. . . if I did it right, I put 3 pictures of my engine data sticker in the member photos.
If that's the right sticker, you did it right. I thought someone make reference to an emissions sticker. I did see the letters CARB (which I would like to mean Calif. Air Resources Board) but I have a feeling it's a column header for Carburetion.

$300 under ain't bad. I don't want the bug shield. We don't allow bugs in Calif. anyway

Thanks a million for taking the time and effort to post the pics. Hopefully, the guys who know how to interpret this will chime in.

Thanks again,
Neil

Talking

Wow! $300.00 under invoice is a great deal. Getting one right at invoice around here is difficult, but possible

I ordered from out of state, Carson City, Nevada. The salesman used a special code to order a California compliant truck even though the 04.5 is 50 state compatible. Puzzling I think...as I wait. Truck has been built and is reported in storage.

Justdirt... Been following this thread since you first posted. Congratulations on your new truck. I'm sure everyone appreciates your efforts to answer questions and speaking of that, I have one!

I've read conflicting information on the addition of a catalytic converter on the 2004.5 HO, have you looked underneath it yet?

rossn2, the front diff. oil on mine is 3/8" below the plug, the rear is 3/4" below.

Zach, the exhaust pipe reduces to 4" at the turbo then all the way out. There is what I believe is a catalytic converter and then a huge muffler. I had to laugh when I saw how big it was, it kind of looked like someone had mounted a medium size water heater under there.

TAKE IT BACK AND MAKE THEM FILL IT IMMEDIATELY.... And then ask them what kind of PREP they did on your vehicle?
I bet if you look at the lower frt end ball joints, you'll notice black-sticky paper too, they didn't remove!

The rear end that low would equate to a couple of pints to a quart!

Congrats on your new truck. I'm hoping to order mine this weekend. Anyhow, was wondering if you picked up your tires yet? TireRack has a good deal going:

BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A Price: $117
The best price I found anywhere else was around $160.

rossn2, the rear diff cover has an oil level line scribed into it. It looks like the diff. should be filled to about 1" or so below the drain hole. It actually looks like mine is a little too full.
You are right about the lower ball joints. Paper still there and it didn't look like they had been lubed.

diirk, I ordered them from Sams for $115.72 each plus tax. I actually wanted 285's but for the price of the 315's I "had" to go with them. Looks like I will be able to pick them up Monday.

Still having trouble sleeping. Something from the garage keeps calling me.

Looking at the picture I posted of my engine data sticker am I right in thinking that this engine is "not" CARB certified?
