Parked My Beloved Truck
#16
No such thing as buses? We used to WALK or ride a bicycle to school and work. Imagine that, what a novel concept. I never drove to work until I was 45 and had a supplied company truck.

i am cranking out as much bio diesel as i can. i had to bring in another guy that could get me more wvo from his connection-plus i needed another person to help with making it. ( splitting up the man hours involved) there is three of us now. we are making 125 gallons a week! hopefully we can increase that by another 100 gallons within a month!

Mine has basically been parked since the end of November when I got it back from the body shop and bought the Jeep. I drive it on the weekends, filled it up three weeks ago and have put about 120 miles on it since. It is here when I need it and will use it when I need it but the Jeep gets me to and from work every day and it is alot cheaper than driving the truck.

Yep, my wife who said she would only drive a truck or SUV is now driving a Honda Civic. Big, bad Dodge mainly used now to occasionally pull the travel trailer. We need to raise heck and kick some people out of Washington.

That's allright fellas, our trucks won't wear out as fast...but don't ferget the wash and wax.
Cheapo car ports are less expensive than paint jobs and help protect the paint from bird crap.

I have a little S-10 pick up... I have been driving it for the last few weeks.. Problem is with the 4.3 V6 it only gets 18-22 MPG.. Dodge gets 17 combined driving.. so for me the only savings is about 49 cents a gallon..
The S-10 won't run on anything less than mid grade at $4.51 a gallon.. Diesel is 4.99 a gallon. (the S-10 will actually stumble and die while it idles on reg fuel).

THat's the last time I filled-up! I have used 1/4 tank of gas and driven 109 miles since Easter. I bought a Ranger 4 cylinder and love the $55 fill-ups! Was getting 23mpg until I got the AC fixed; the AC dropped it down to 19mpgs....hey, who's complaining!

Here I am selling my gasser truck to buy a CTD as my new daily driver. If I get 17 mpg combined at $4.69 for diesel vs. 14.5 mpg combines at $4.15 for 87 octane it will cost me $2 more to fill the CTD per 300 miles. At 15K miles a year it's $100 more to fuel the mighty CTD. If gas prices go way down or diesel prices increase faster than gas prices I will be on the losing end of the equation. With gas at $3.75 my increased cost on the CTD is $10 per 300 miles or $500 per year. I don't anticipate gas getting much under $3.75...at this point most people would be happy at $3.50.
I'm close enough to the border (3 hours) that it might be worth mounting another tank and getting 119 gallons on a monthly basis. It would work out to 1663 miles in Phoenix on the cheap fuel monthly after the 360 mile roundtrip. If mex diesel is $3 per gallon it'd save me $200 per trip over ULSD fuel.

Be careful about announcing how much Bio you are making. Uncle SAM is starting to crack down on people making more BIO than what the law says you can make (for additive purposes). You might want to read up on how much you can make before you have to pay taxes on it. In effect they will get you for tax evasion (DOT). Just a friendly warning... I now someone that is being investigated now for the same thing....
