overhead temperature display went crazy

Today I glanced up at the temperature guage and the display was showing -40 degrees farenheit. I hit reset several times and never cleared it. Stopped and cut the truck off and on a couple of times then it finally read the true 93 degrees.

I saw a post on here awhile back of something similar, is this somekind of problem I need to tell the dealership about? I have an appointment with the truck in the shop next Wed for the all too famous a/c problems.
