Operating Temp Question?

Operating Temp Question?
I saw an earlier post about how long it takes to warm up from a cold start. I have found this to be true after driving the truck for 5 days now. Being new to a CTD, what should the water temp gauge read on the factory dash gauge when it is warmed up and going good? Mine is showing right at 200 and drops off a little when the fan kicks on, but I don't believe that it has gone above 200 since I got it.

Thanx,

CTDCAL

Re:Operating Temp Question?
When warmed up, mine runs about a needle-width under the 200 degree mark. Guess it's been pretty cold here as my fan has yet to come on.

Best to y'all
Bill

Re:Operating Temp Question?
It will go that high until the thermostat opens (Opens@190)then trys to cycle as close to that as it can. Also you might hear a click or a lite thud under the dash on the right, thats the heater box bypass valve working so you can keep heat in the cab.
Danny

Re:Operating Temp Question?
Negative,Bluedresser, clutch did not kick in as I was going approx 45 mph and it was early morning, air temp in low 60s. Also, only about 2/3 throttle in 4th gear, not pushing it since only about 1500 miles on new 2003. The nest weekend pulled up from S. Lake Tahoe over Echo Summit in 4th gear fan did not kick in. Pulling our sub-division it kicked in on 14% grade for 1 mile, pulled in 3rd gear at 20-25 mph, middle of afternoon, temp middle 70s. I have observed if road speed us up, volume of air through radiator is sufficient to keep thermal clutch cooled.
