Oil use...
Just checked my oil and seems like it may be using a tad too much.
It's got about 1/3rd of the "Safe" range to go before it hits the "Add" mark.
Does that sound right after about 7000 miles since last changed & filled?
The truck sees mostly light duty and highway miles.
Has anyone had to add oil before oil change time came around?
Thanks,
DT.

How long did you let the truck sit before checking the oil? I wait at least 30 minutes after shutdown before checking the oil level to get an accurate reading.

Hey Mikey,
I waited about 15 minutes but I think I figured it out.
The first time I checked was 15 minutes after I had only idled the truck for about 5 minutes, the truck never had a chance to warm up, the temp needle was still in the mud when I shut it off.
I then took the truck to the store, which gave it a chance to fully warm up, waited for 30 minutes for the oil to settle, and then checked it again.
It showed full that time.
I'm pretty sure the truck (oil) should be hot (minus whatever cooling takes place in the 30 minute settle time) when you check the oil to get an accurate reading.
For some reason that sounds correct to me.
