Oh Yeah, got 20 mpg on my stock 06 today
Well I decided to see how good my mileage would get if I didn't go over 2,000 RPM's and kept my lead food under control and low and behold I 20.4 MPG today.
The trucks got over 13K miles on it and it just keeps getting better and better.....

Wow! You have given me hope!!! Is your truck auto or manual? The best I've got since I got my big tires on was 16.2mpg (but I can't seem to keep my foot out of it Dang the sweet sounding turbo!!

If I'm a lead foot I'm normally around 16.5 - 17 mpg.

I've got 3K less miles too. I think I'll get about 16.2-16.5 out of this tank... I try to be good and keep my foot out of it, I really do, but it's hard

Not trying to upset people or start a war, just pointing out the inaccuracy of the overhead mpg computer.
Was this on the overhead or hand calculated?
I've been able to read up to 26mpg on the overhead, if I reset it when decelerating against the exhaust brake.
My overhead usually reads about 16 running around town vs. 13.5 hand calc.

Any of you have an educated answer other than driving habits & tire size? cus allot of you that say or think your getting this high milage are running the same size tires I am.

I have about 33K miles. I currently average over 750 miles/tank and have gotten as high as 830. My last two tanks have been over 22.5 mpg. I have had one over 23.5. Now, I live in Houston and that entails alot of stop and go to which this 6spd seems to like. When I get out on the highway with steady state 70 mph, mpgs will actually go down, but not much. I shift at 1500 rpm and coast when I see red lights or stopped traffic up ahead, much like you do in an automatic. Only thing is as I'm coasting, my RPM's are at idle as oppsed to the auto which is higher depending on speed. My current average speed for the whole 33K miles on my truck is about 35 mph. That sounds low, but unless your hotshot driving or live in an area where high speeds are the norm, its not going to be much higher. And I have a nice black bumper to prove that I do enjoy driving this truck.

My overhead is showing 22.6 right now for about a 1300 mile average. I hand calc each tank and have been over 20 a few times. Of course, my 2wd is gonna get better mpg to begin with. I'm at 13.5k now and getting ready to do a 1700 round trip this weekend pulling my drag boat. I've gotten 18.5 pulling it, but should do better as the miles get higher. We'll see.
