o6 REC Nav stereo install question(s)
Swapping out the stock single cd unit for the GPS/cd/MP3 all the bells and whistles model(REC). I bought some speakers for the dash, 3-1/2" but wondered if the stock REC units use the center dash hole for a speaker or for the GPS antenae? If not then where does that antenae mount? Thanks Brian

Popped the dash cover, center hole is for a speaker, cause the GPS mount hole is just a tad off center towards the passenger side. Now if I could just get a factory wiring diagram for the premium stereo...without having to buy it.

The REC GPS/CD/MP3 will plug and play in the 06's, and I confirmed that the GPS antenae goes in the dash to the right of the center speaker(heck there's even a cut-out and screw holes for it). Good to go, will post back tomorrow night when it's in. Brian

Theres a little black box on my roof right ahead of the rear window I assumed was the gps ant. Could be the sat radio ant, I thought it was all in 1 unit. Good to know BKCBUILDER

C4....black one on the roof is the sat(sirius) ant. The sirius control box is just up from the glove box door(right under air bag controls) factory installed on all Big Horn, Thunder Road and Lone Star models (which is pretty much every truck from what I've seen
Just wish they would have run the wires for the dash speakers...even if they weren't gonna use them. Brian

CONFIRMED! plug and play but of course I had to fill those dash speaker holes with infinity 3-1/2's while I was in there. Sound is great(ok good for stock speakers, which soon will go) best part was it was easy. Just unplug old, plug in new, insert cd/rom....bing bang boom GPS is active. 6 cd's loaded, presets done, sirius works and you get all the info you need.
New NAV bezel was $54 (laramie, wood(ish) and silver) anyone need a single cd laramie bezel...wood and silver? Brian

E-bay....did some research and there is a guy there who sells more of these than anyone, knows all the in and outs and is a factory authorized dealer of remanufatured units. Price was buy iy now for $799, he had 5 during that deal. He also had 5 for $899 Remanufactured with and updated joystick and $999 for brand new with the updated joystick. All include new antennae and manual with CD and a 45 day warranty. His feedback was great and he's sold around 10K items in 10 yrs, so he's reputable...also recommended by more than a few audio websites. His seller ID is Mr.CD1...he's located in Eastpointe Mich, and ships as soon as he receives payment and follows up with tracking numbers and has UPS do the same to you. Pretty impressive for e-bay.
