But DC is too lazy to distinguish between the two, so you still get the cab lights on a SRW 3500.

Shovel-Keep in mind that the 3500 SRW only comes with cab lights and no dual wheels.

I LOVE my cab lights.................I also bought my truck to tow and haul, I think I have overloaded my 3500 a couple of times. Last trip to the Gravel Co. left me with 3.2 Tons of Pea Gravel in the back! Maybe I should have bought a dually. The tires are rated for 3200LBS each so I was at max for the tires........She was squattin...

That can be one in the same depending on how much pin weight you carry. Like it's been said before in these forums; you'll outrun your payload capacity on a 2500 before you reach your max.towing capacity. In other words; a 2500 can drag it down the road but you probably are not doing it safely if your pin weight is much over 1500#. I've yet to see my cab lights while driving. The other guys looks cool though!!

At times I wish I had gotten a 3500 dually, but generally I love my 2500. I also love the long bed.. screw that shortbed stuff

A little redundant?

(SRW = Single Rear Wheel in case you weren't sure )

Stock vs. Stock, all else excluded, I'd pick the Alli... but behind a 1000ftlb Cummins, 48RE all the way. Once upgraded I think the 48RE will give you fewer headaches. Besides, the Alli only comes behind a duracrap, so it's not even an option! And there's no way one extra gear will make up for 2 extra cylinders. I don't see why people complain about the 48RE only being 4 speed... who cares? With the huge low end torque of the Cummins, first gear is already low enough and OD is taller than the 6th gear in the nv5600... there's no need to insert more gears in the middle to keep the engine in the power band. The whiners just need to get a decent TC and VB in there!
