noise from dash speaker? '04

I get a very intermitent ticking noise that may be coming from my front left dash speaker. It is a very light ticking noise usually like 3 or 4 very quick ticks that seem to happen only when my radio is on but I could be wrong. Even with the volume all the way down I can hear it so I don't think it is related to the volume of the radio playing in any way. Anybody else getting this? I could try to be more descriptive if anybody has any ideas.

Thanks.

PS. This is a great site. Far better than the Dakota site I used to frequent before I got my new Ram. Now I just need to upload a pic of my truck and update my profile.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but I noticed a ticking noise too. It seems very, very random in my truck. I can't think of anything that explains it. I need to pinpoint the sound better. It happens while the truck is moving or sitting still, so . . . . . I think I may try to find the source of this irritating little noise.

Raw,

probably is the same noise if it seems to come from in front of you somewhere? Yes it is very random. soemdays I don't think I hear it and others it seems to happen every few minutes. Very quick series of ticks than it is gone until it happens again. i am experimenting with the cellphone plugged into the lighter and as I have said before it only seems to happen with the radio/cd in the on position. Let me know if you figure it out before me.

Welcome aboard Noobs. You are hearing the sound of a powerful Diesel. There is alot going on under the hood of your truck. Diesels make all kinda noises. 1 there is an explosion inside the motor with about 15:1 compression are there about. Enjoy your truck, 8)

Yeah, definitely not just hearing diesel noise. Thanks for assuming I'm a retard, sittenbull2.

Anyway, the ticking noise in my truck occurs regardless of whether or not the radio is on. Yesterday I was actually trying to decide if it was coming from the left side of the driver's seat somewhere.

Yeah, sorry. My reply was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek as well. It's always difficult to convey inflection on message boards.

Update:

After a couple weeks of driving around I have concluded that it is almost certain that the noise I am hearing is related to having my cell phone plugged in to the truck. I don't know if it is brand related (nokia) or not but I would like to thank Drecu for the heads up on my question because I don't think I would ever have figured that one out. Thanks again and MAN DO I REALLY LOVE THIS TRUCK. Only have 1200 miles on it but the quality seems to be immensely superior to the Dakota, and it should be for twice the price . And to think I almost scared myself into getting a Chevy.

My Nokia is so bad, if I have it sitting on my computer desk, the speakers will tick and the monitor will flicker (like I pushed the Degauss button) every 15 minutes, or whenever it rings.
In the truck, I've found I have to turn the radio off to talk on the phone.
It really messes up my police scanner too, which is sitting right next to it.

I was going to chime in, but figured the 3rd gens might be different enough that the phone wouldn't affect them the same.
