Question No such thing as "high idle feature"

hahaha.....well I went to the dealership today and they looked up stuff in the computer for 15 minutes only to tell me that there is no such feature. I tried to explain to them that it is a flash and that it can be done. Is there something else I could tell them like a number or something? They were acting like I was from another planet.

It's not a flash. It's a feature on the StarScan tool that they simply "enable". Tell them to plug it into your truck and they will see it. The flashes are for things like White Smoke, etc. It will take them all of 2 minutes. If you have a manual, you will need the "Clutch Pin Kit" which they would have to order so that it will work on your manual.

Hmmm maybe that would be the reason they could not find it.......because I told them wrong. Talk about putting your foot in your mouth. So is that where the fog lights with high beams would be too?

I don't think that is a flash. I believe that that is something you have to do with the physical wiring of the lights if I am remembering correctly. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable in this particular area will chime in because that is all I know.

The fog lights "ON" with high beams is a hard wire job. Something you can do on your own if you are so inclined. The kits from Geno's Garage and other reputable sources have all the connectors so it's a very easy job.

The "HIGH IDLE" is enable like Wiggs stated with the StarScan tool.

Hope this helps!

The Bully Dog Triple Dog downloader will do both of these things and it makes it a lot easier.

here is an active link on the high beam/foglight combo; seem to get mixed results.

I'm pretty sure, from what I have read, that you can have the "foglights w/ brights" enabled on the 2006's in the same manner as the high idle. Another option is "accessories on" I think. It keeps the radio and other interior accessories going after you pull the key until you open your door.

You also can have the 'daytime running lights' enabled. Not sure which lights that involves but I believe the Canadians have to have them on by law. The high idle feature has to be enabled for a PTO winch installation as well. The dealerships shoud discuss this stuff with you when you purchase your truck and enable ALL the features that you want before driving off the lot. Seems stupid to have to learn about them on these and other forums and the go back to get them turned on. Service and Customer Satisfaction stuff.
