No Mega Cabs after 09?

just got my Automobile magazine. there is a small article on the new Ram. in it, it claims the next generation will drop the mega cab. i hope this is inaccurate. i love my mega cab. the space in the cab is fantastic and useful. plus with toyota's full size p/u with the crewmax cab being their best seller i think Cerebrus would be making a big mistake in dropping the mega cab. having this cab configuration seperates Dodge from the competition. if this does end up being true i could see myself purchasing a late 09 mega cab 3rd generation to replace my 08. hopefully Cerebrus is listening

For the 2009 model year, Dodge will be introducing their new Crew Cab for the 1500s...after 2008, there will be no more Mega Cabs for the 1500 series.

Now, for the 2500s and 3500s, the Mega Cab will be available as a 2009 truck. Dodge will not be redesigning the Heavy Duty's until the 2010 model year.

You still have one year!

Well if they do discontinue it that just ups the re-sale value of ours, especially if its the 5.9L.

The new Crewcab will be a compromise between the QC/MC. A little bigger than the QC and smaller than the MC. This will give us the option of more legroom with an 8ft bed.

They might have been thinking about the people such as myself who need the extra room in the truck but don't need it in the bed. I think variety is a good thing.

I to have the MC and we love ours. It's great for long road trips and traveling with our 5th wheel and I have no problems with the 5th wheel while towing and making turns. I do not need a long bed and would not buy one even if I had the chose but that's just my needs.

You will probably have to wait and see, there may only be a name change whereas crew cab = mega cab.

I think they should drop the quad cab, have crewcab with 8 ft bed, and mega cab with 7 ft or whatever difference is left. This would use the same frame like quad cab longbeds and megas do now.
