I had a set of 285/70/17s on my '07.

At the time, the Nittos were really the only E rated tire in that size.

They look good, handle well, and have excellent traction. The downside is their treadlife. I got just about 21k out of mine. The first couple rotations were 6k and the last few were 3k trying to stretch their life a bit.

I just put a set of 305/65/17E BFG AT KOs on my truck. E-rated, same height as a 285/70/17, and nearly the same width as a 315/70/17. I briefly considered Nitto Terra Grapplers but the treadlife horror stories won out over the lower price of the Nittos. The 285 BFG AT KOs that came off my truck had over 58,000 miles on them. The 285/75/17 Nitto Dura Grapplers look like they should wear like iron but no distributer in my area has them. The Dura Grapplers also look pretty mild for off-roading compared to BFG AT KOs.

I have had these on two different trucks and they are by far the best tire I have ever ran. They performe flawlessly on snow and ice and they handle really well on dry and wet roads with minimal tire noise. I have almost 22000 on my current set and they are well over 50% left. I pulled the wheels and tires off my 07 mega and put them on the 08 and couldn't be happier. The only problem I have found is they like to pick up little rocks and carry them down the highway and eject them just right and chip the paint on the bottom of the front doors.
