Newbie Fuel Question

If you really get into a pinch with a Cummins Diesel, what can be used as fuel other than #2 Diesel?? I assume Kerosene can be used??

Thanks

I think kerosene and a lot of the altermatives are for the older diesels. Some of our old military trucks were "tri-fuel" and kerosene was one option.

But there is usually always a diesel station on the road. Besides, in one of the posts I read that the low fuel light comes on when there are 10 gallons left. That gives you at least 150 miles to find a fuel station.

Kerosene lacks lubricity of road diesel. Find a truck stop and you are good to go.

Kerosene is a major nono, stock03 is correct in saying about the light... Only once I have been in a pinch for fuel, just slow down and use the cruise and pray....

When I'm on the road, I carry (2) 5 gal extra cans in my trailer. Actually had to use them just last month, couldn't find a station anywhere off one of the go-around interstates. Made it to a station on the Jersey Pike on FUMES - would have been stuck without them - I just "assumed" that there would be fuel available...

Talking

Dumbazz me had some EMPTY 5 gallon jugs in my trailer when I was in the middle of Kansas on E and putted in with a half a gallon left, 70 miles at 35 mph was a long time but better sitting on the road waiting for fuel,,, I called 911 and the police told me how far I had to go and I apologized many times for using 911. THey said no problem and if I ran out give them a call back....

I carry five all the time now, you never know when you or someone else would need a helping hand...
