Sticker is something like $42,448. The interest rate is the only that is giving me second thoughts.

I hate thinking of pulling 30k cash of my investments to put into a truck that will depreciate. My money earning near 5% leaves financing attractive..but not that attractive.

Go over to Ebay and look at what used ones are getting. This truck will not drop in value as fast as you Toyota or Chevy

Thanks.

Interest rates have definitely gone up lately. If I had to decide between pulling 30K out that is earning < 5% or borrowing at over 6%, IMO I would borrow from myself at < 5%. I would then divide 30K by 60 months, figure how much the additional will be at 5% interest and pay my account back.

That is a good price. I price a 3500 Long Box same options, but a 6 spd this past June at that price.

Cummins equiped Dodge trucks hold their value VERY well. I traded my 2000 V10 go 10500 for it, if it had a diesel could-a gotten a lot more. Interest rate is pretty low considering 30 yr mortgages are running 6.25%

I test drove a 2006 2500 QC 4X4 Auto yesterday and, without any haggling, was offered 12K off any Diesel. Dealers are pretty motivated right now. My main question is am I going to miss out on some savings if I don't buy before the new year. I was planning on waiting until my nissan truck sold first.

Nice! Which state are you in?

Also, what dealer fees are they charging? Example: If they want $575 for dealer prep and $175 for doc fees that adds up too. Even if you have $1000 in fees that is an unbelievable deal.

I'm only asking the details because I'm in the market, and weather depending I may buy one today

Good deal, In Phoenix, AZ most dealers are 12K off to start plus fees. Like I said earlier, I have never seen this many end of year Diesels on the lots. Dealers are really motivated to get rid before end of year to get bonuses and not have to pay another months of interest. They will take a hit on profit on a few trucks to add on to the end of year bonus from Dodge, I think?

Im in DFW, Texas. I didn't even look at a worksheet. This "12K off any diesel on the lot" info was just volunteered by the salesman. Also volunteered was the fact that the dealership was interested in making much-better-than-average deals before the end of the year.

I was going to wait until I sold my truck...but it is paid of...I might be contacting my credit union today... We'll see what the wifey says.

From what I gather, 4X4's are being bought in southern states and driven north where they are sold at a premium. Also, the taxes in Texas aren't as high as in many other states...I believe.

Crimps...who was offering the 12k off...are they near the airport?
I found a used 05 equipped with wheels, etc for less...Any disadvantages to an 05 over an 06. It's $1500 less but has 12k miles on it. If the interest rates are close I may opt for the used one.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. With all the rebates Dodge is offering, they are not holding their value anything like they used to. I ended up almost 3k upside down when I stupidly got rid of mine in May, and I got a good deal (28500 on a 40k sticker price in 2003). But if you plan on keeping it, it doesn't really matter that much.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Good luck and enjoy,
Nick
