New Truck, 200 miles on it, what do I do?
I have been a member of DTR for a while now. Sold my first child ('97 2500 SLT 12 Valve 4x4, souped up) to get my new '08 Quad Cab 4X4, Patriot Blue, magic carpet ride dream machine.
Totaly stock with only 200 miles on it.
What are some solid recomendations for maintinance, and service right of the bat and what do I look out for?
To all my 12 VALVER buddies, Later!

Copy that, I got the truck so I could haul horses and cattle in my goose neck with ease. My Trailer weighs about 6000lbs, fully loaded were 10,000+ going lots a miles.

I second the load it up and use it hard. I put 21K behind mine to break it in and haven't had a bit of trouble with it (knock on wood). I also like the Edge Insight in place of gauges. Other than the Insight and B&W turnover my truck is stock and doing well. I only have 22k on the clock while others have much more. Once my warranty is up I'll think about letting a few parts fall off just to get better fuel mileage and let it breath better.

^ good advice there, amazing how easy it would be for one of the fluids to come out of the factory low....... and how bad that could screw things up in a hurry. since ya say its stock, you are most likely going to notice soon how fast the fuel gauge is going to start moving,,,,,, time to start reading up on delete kits before it eats you out of house and home.

I can't speak about the things you can do to a 6.7L, but when I got my truck I drove it home from the dealer at 75 mph for close to 3 hours. After the first break-in drive of 200 miles, I then loaded the bed taller than the side rails with sheets of 3/4" treated plywood for another 200 miles or so, and again drove at the posted speed limit of 75 mph. At 500 miles or thereabouts, I started pulling my trailers with 10-12K loads, and by 1000 miles I was even pulling some 14-18K loads.
I checked my fluids with every tow before and after, changed out the factory oil at 2K, changed out the diffs, tranny, xfer case at 5K.
I am now at 35K with NO real problems whatsoever, my truck runs perfectly, and I can say I still have that big smile on my face like I did on day one going down the road. I have had a few nuisance codes, relief valve stuff, and did have the blend door problem - my dealership took care of everything meticulously. I did the ME, they said nothing about it but did tell me not to remove the CAT because it would void my warranty.
Enjoy your truck.

Well, around this area, probably so. I live in Tulare, and I don't think there is a dealer around here that is worth a ****, or knows what they are doing...if you find one, let me know.
