New to me '09 2500 Mega Cab

Bought an '09 Mega Cab SXT to take the place of my '01 Quad Cab. 152,000 on the odometer.

The Good So Far: Smooth and quiet. Wife loves it. Drove from Houston to Austin and computer said 25.3 mpg. (Is this for real? Amazing if true). Feels real good to drive.

The Bad So Far: Only had one key. Cost me $100 for extra key to open and start the car. Haven't figured all the buttons yet. A real beast to park in most lots. No side steps -- wonder if we really need to have them?

I'll probably have lots of questions. Hope folks here will be able to help.

Congrats.

As for the bad news...Your MPG is not nearly accurate. I almost wonder if there is a program loaded on it.

My 06 is about 2-3mpg high on the readout (19-20mpg), when I had a quadzilla on her, she would read 23-25mpg while I was actually getting around 17mpg.

It seems a fantasy.

I was amazed also. I just filled the tank 2 days ago and will drive from Austin to Dallas soon. That trip will hopefully give me a chance to calibrate what the computer is reporting.

My 06 lie-o-meter is about five mpg off and I'm 100% stock. I always do hand calc. to get a correct reading for mpg.

Unhappy It is a Lie-O-Meter

I drove my first full tank. 580 miles between fill up. It was about 350 mi highway the rest town (freeway and suburbs). The meter said 20.3 average. On the fill up I calculated 18.3. Well I really wanted to believe the 25mpg on the highway. But....I guess it was too good to be true.

18.3 is still pretty darn good. Is the truck all stock? I have an 08 mega. Great family truck. I've got 2 boys, 4 and 9 years old. That huge backseat area is great on trips. I don't have little feet kicking my seat like my Dad had to endure when I was a kid.
I bought mine used, it had step bars on it. I couldn't imagine not having them. I'm 6ft 3in tall and use them getting in/out every time. My wife is only 5ft 7in tall, so a necessity for her.
Fill out your sig so we can see what you've got. We'll be able to offer lots more advice and help once you fill that out.
Congrats and enjoy your new Mega!

I love my mega! That is great MPG, hope you enjoy the truck. I also use my steps from time to time and I am 6'4'' mainly to wax the roof. My wife is 5'6'' and uses them daily.
