New guy saying hello and a question..
Hey guys just picked up my 2003 CTD and so far I have to say I really like it. I have a unique situation. I have a 2003 2500 Hemi that the dealer only wanted to give me $16,800 trade in for it. So I told him no way that I would sell it myself so right now I have both trucks in my driveway almost identical. So I have been taking a few things off the gas truck putting them on the CTD. And I am down to the wheels and tires. I am looking for opnions here. The Hemi has BF Goodrich Rugged Trail TA 265/70 R17 with chrome wheels and 33,500 miles on them. Now I have had this truck since new and I know they have been rotated regulary because I have done it. There are a more aggresive tread tire. The CTD has Michelin LTX A/S 265/70 R17 with aluminum wheels and 21,300 miles on them. I have no idea how these tires have been taken care of. These are more of a street type tire. My question to you guys is which wheels and tires do you think I should keep. The tread is a little better on the Michelins but the look IMO is better with the Goodrichs. I am wondering about wear and traction mostly. Any insight is appreciated.

Welcome aboard. My BFG's have 46k on them and look real good still. I have no complaints about their performance in snow either. I always like the chrome wheels better than the Dodge aluminums. YMMV.
I can see it now, you'll have both trucks at the tire shop: ok, now put the Michelins on the chrome wheels and see how they look on the gasser, oops, take the BFG's off the aluminum wheels and put them on the chrome ones again, THIS time on the diesel.... Life is rough with those kinds of tough decisions in front of us.
....just kidding; welcome.

Welcome to the site
As far as the tires, that's up to you. No matter what you do I would get a matching spare and get rid of that POS steel black rim. You should be doing a 5 tire rotation on these things anyway.
I know I just opened my self up to get flamed but you should do a 5 tire rotation
It will make a big difference when yo have a flat and need to change that tire & also when these tires finally wear out you can then get what yo really want and have 5 of them.
It's a 4X4 thing, the spare should be the same diameter as the other tires when yo put it on. If you don't do a 5 tire roation then they won't be the same size and can cause problems in the 4X4 system
OK, I'm done

fschiola I am in MO we usually get a fair amount of snow although the last few years we sure havent. bulabula you say that joking but I called a local tire shop and I tried explaining my situation after about 5 minutes explaining I think the guy understood and said it would be 10 bucks a tire if I wanted to switch just the rubber on the rims, But that amounted to 80 bucks because of the 2 trucks. Thanks for the welcome and the replys guys
