Talking New guy here

Hello everybody. I have been looking at diesel trucks for a while and i have made up my mind on the cummins years 03 and up. I hear they are great engines. I put a couple links below of few deals i found on auto trader. They are both right within my price range. Also, what is the life expectancy of these engines? i have heard they can go 400k miles plus with minnor or no problems.

Welcome to DTR

The CTD should go 400K easy with only minor repairs, but that depends on how you use it. If you hook up to a sled at the local county fair and see how far you can pull it you might be in for dissapointment. If on the other hand you use it like it was intended you will find decades of service with "minor" repair bills are not uncommon at all.

I have a "99" I bought new and I would not trade it for a new one. I now have 200K and I'm looking forward to 250K. It fits what I do to a "T". I drive it hard. I pull it alittle, but when I do it usually way over weight.

Treat it right and you'll have a truck you'll be proud of for years. Participate in this forum, take the advice of some of the "experts" around here, and your truck will last for decades.

Welcome.

I always default to the 4X4 thing too. I pass by them when looking at trucks faster than I totally ignore a gasser.

Deal is, around here a 2 wheel drive truck is about as useless as a Mustang in the winter.
He is in the O.C, the 4 wheel drive is less useful (although in my old truck I got stuck in wet grass one time till I locked it in).

Agreed on the prices too, you can do better, but again, I am in truck country, not sunny SoCal.
