New to Diesel world

Hello all!! Just purchased my first diesel yesterday and pretty happy with it. I bought this truck to haul my toys around Southern California and am pretty confident I got the right truck at the right deal. Looked at Chevy's but they're mighty proud of them and opted for the less expensive, but (as far as I've read) an equally capable rig in the Dodge. There was no way I would go for the Ford based on all the bad stuff being said about them hanging out at the dunes and beach. I ultimately opted for the 2007 2500 6.7 Quad Cab 4x4 Big Horn edition. Anyway, I'm very diesel illiterate and am crash coursing on any info I can get my hands on. Love this site, although I have to admit, I'm pretty blown away by the lingo that's complete "Greek" to me. I'm a hot rodder and spent a whole lifetime around racing circles, but I have zero experience with diesels, so I'll be relying on this forun to help me out. Any tips or advice to bring my new diesel language skills up to par? Thanks, in advance and looking forward to being a part of this site!!

Just start reading. Lots to learn and I find the best way is to just jump right in. If something comes up you don't understand, just chime in and say so. Someone will explain it for you. Good luck!

Yup, just start reading like Pauly said. If there is something you don't understand, there are plenty of options to search for the meaning.. like the search function here, or google will net you good results most of the time.
Welcome to the forum.

Sell it quick

fuel costs way more than gas, I don't know what changed but diesel has been 10 to 20 cents more than gas for over two years now.

GETS OLD!

The extra costs in fuel are worth it to me, just to have all the power I need on tap, and to hear the turbo whine!

Regeneration - that's when extra fuel is dumped into the DPF (diesel particulate filter) to burn off all the emissions captured by the filter. Only occurs on the new 6.7L engines.

Hey man welcome, this place is great. Any questions can and will be answered here. That search function is great, and will answer most of your questions before you even need to post the question. Welcome to your new addiction my friend. It is a slippery slope, and being a hot rodder myself you can do just the same in terms of hopping them up. It is just way to easy whick makes it more dangerous for me .
