Re:"04 ORDER DATE?
Ok, call your dealer for your "VON" (Vehicle Order Number). <br>Then call DC at 800-992-1997 and select customer, then select telephone number option and stay on line for operator. They will ask for your VON number and the general type of truck i.e. model, 4x4 and body style. Ask which week and job number your truck will be built and most important the expected ship date. Once it is built I believe you can track it through the selected rail carrier's tracer network which I found on Diesel Truck Resource. Good luck. Http://www.dodgeram.org/buying_info/Order_status.htm.

I found this in another post reply.
I'm going to try this number tomorrow. I've been reading other post and some orders have taken up to three months. I hope mine is not going to take that long. I'm ready to take a trip to Mexico tonight.

Do you think I could get the President to send in the Navy Seals to rescue my truck and bring it across the border.

Thanks stack_climber for the info. I also hope it doesn't take longer than 3 months. I am moving in 3 months and will need the truck if I sell my Ford.

How do you know it is 600ft lbs? I thought they were all 310hp=550ft lbs. Mine sounds like the same truck in Granite. I can't say enough how good it is!

Only 600's available now. They're 50 state legal. I found out about the 600 about a week after I ordered in late November. I was originally expecting the 555. Looks like no choice. Your forced to take a 600.

Well guys. Looks like I’ve been had. We did order before the 325/600 was announced
and we got the 305/555, but the dealership said they confirmed that we’d be getting the
updated 600. Went to the dealership tonight. We pulled her in under the lights and I
went to it with the camera. Found the label on the side of the valve cover - 305hp.
I think the chain of command decided to tell me that the new Cummins was on it’s
way to prevent me from trying to cancel and re-order at a later date if I had found out it wasn’t the 600. The engine tag shows Cummins manufacture date, December 3rd, ’03.
Has to be one of the last ones down the line. Have to look on the bright side – won’t
have to worry as much about the the extra torque on the 48RE.
To bad I couldn’t be one of the first with photos, but I’m sure they’ll be here soon from another lucky member.
I'm sure we're gonna be very happy with her anyway...

It's ok drsmart. It will still be awesome. Hopefully it won't leave a sour taste in your mouth and you'll enjoy many wonderful miles with your Cummins.

Oh well, I wouldn't let it dampen my spirits, you don't have a cat converter to worry about and there are boxes available for you to put on it that will take care of that 20hp deficiency

Put it this way, you can join the thousands of happy 305/555 owners out there. How many happy 325/600 owners are out there? You won't be disappointed with what you have.

when was it built???

drsmart........ do you know when your truck was made??? I am curious because I ordered a truck first week of Dec. It was made on 1/7/2004. So I am not for sure I am getting the infamous 600 either.

Thanks for the help. And everybody is right. The engine you got is proven and has a happy following! Enjoy it!

I think the dealer said ours was built December 10th. I'm quite sure anything built from the day after onward will be the 600. Definitely a January build will be the 325/600. I think we were so close I could cry. Thinking but not knowing for almost 8 weeks. But you guys are absolutely right. The 305/555 is another well proven engine from Cummins.
We're just spoiled nowadays. We all want the latest and greatest.

If it was possible, I would trade my future 325/600 for a 305/555. There are too many unanswered questions on the new engine. The 305/555 is more than adequate for my uses and it is proven. Drsmart, if I were you, I would be ecstastic that I got the 305/555. JMHO.

You would actually trade in a 325/600 for a 305/555? There must be some pretty grave concerns about this upgrade that we haven't heard yet. What are they?
