Today I went to look for a new truck after mine being burned to the ground and ran across a 3rd gen. Its a 2003 four door, short bed, 2wd, 5speed, with 36,000 miles. They are asking 22grand and wanted to know if that sound like a good price. Any help would be awesome

Assuming it is a SLT, I am thinking you could do better than $22K. You could probably get a similar truck brand new for $28K. With the current used car/truck glut, offer $18K. You might just get it for that price.

If you're going to do the shopping yourself instead of letting insurance co. replace the truck with one about the same mileage, I recommend you buy a yellow NADA book ASAP. I had a car to burn once and it earned me $700 above their first offer. I simply showed the adjuster the book and told them mine was extra clean and it had this and it had that because I installed those pieces and he didn't argue. He wrote the check for extra clean and said, you can keep the parts you want to salvage if you will sign this release?" and I said, "Give me your pen."
