DrDiesel...

Get your self a beer sit back and read the WHOLE post!!!!!! Then you'll realize that he is happy with the truck now.

Slider, Glad to see everything finally worked out for you. Might not get quite the same mpg's as your gasser but I will bet it pulls a heck of lot easier!!

DrDiesel, now that was completly out of line.

Slider, I sure hope mileage on my 2007 6.7 gets better with time like yours did. It sure makes me sick now when I figure my fuel mileage.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I loved my 04.5. When it hit 100k I was getting almost 21 m.p.g. empty @ 75 m.p.h. my usual cruising speed with the Cruise control. Towing anything, campers from 18' to 40', I would get between 12 - 13 m.p.g. @ 75 m.p.h.
NOW my 07.5/6.7L is something to complain about. It averages about 5 m.p.g. LESS than the 04.5 did. 15.5 m.p.g. empty @ 75 m.p.h and about 9 m.p.g. same cruise controlled speed. It is true though, if you slow down to under 70 m.p.h. the mileage will definitely increase a bunch, but I just can't drive that slow and stay awake!!
Change that fuel filter regularly and put some diesel fuel additive in. That will help with fuel mileage, especially the ones that increase the cetane levels, just in case you buy some lousy fuel. All diesel fuel is not created equally and some really suck. When I shop for fuel I look for cetane rating NOT price. There is a big difference that you can see in the fuel mileage department. Good luck and hope everything works out. As others have said too, ya gotta work these beasts!!
