it can be lots of things such as rear wheel speed sensor, any part of your abs system throwing a code, or it can be a build-up of crud in or around those sensors. i cured the same exact problem on my 2nd gen by removing the rear wheels and thoroughly washing behind the hubs and all abs sensor connection areas with warm, soapy water. it might take a tuner that clears dtc's and several runs with your truck at speeds greater than 35 mph and longer than 10 miles (i THINK this is the speed and distance that my diesel tech buddy told me it took to have the code clear) to get rid of the code and keep it from being thrown again. good luck

Red brake light generally means hydraulic issues.
Amber only means electrical issues.
Both would tend to mean hydraulic with brakes impaired.

it just came on again but this time i felt the brake pedal do that thing when the ABS kicks in. and i can hear something from the front driver side wheel that sounds like something is banging around a little. i am going to take off that front wheel today and see what i can find and i will try and clean all 4 up today. thanks for the info and i will inform what i find.
