If it already has a "tow package" from dodge already on it, it should have a plug in under the dash clipped or zip tied to the stearing cloumn that another harness from dodge plugs into that will wire up the just about any brake controller. That harness should've been in the glove box when the truck was new. If the harness isn't there you can get another one from the dealership. I got one and it was 13 bucks. The controller shoud have a diagram in the box. It took me about 20 min to install mine and i just screwed the bracket on the lower part of the dash just to the right of the stearing column

Hardest part for me was finding an nice install location. I ended up using the claimed 'super adhesive contact patch' to stick it to the panel your knees face. It held well for a month, then fell off (luckily not while towing ). I guess I get a second change on a mounting location.

Mine up under the panel in front of my right knee...I'm 6'6 and seat is always back and never hit it....seems the left side would be in my way getting in an out...

Getting down to doing this today. Is the factory plug a big blue one? Seems to be the only one where the controller adapter could fit. Right up near the emergency brake pedal? It's just to the left of a "box" of a bunch of wiring.
Do I need to pull a fuse or disconnect battery power to install? Or just plug in, splice into the controller unit's wiring and mount the unit?
Mine is an 06 2500. Thanks.

Yes that is correct. Depending on the controller you have, ie I have a prodigy p3 which I got the pre made harness that plugs into the controller and the blue plug no splicing. If the wires are fixed to the controller then yes you will have to add the cable first before plugging it in. I never pulled any fuse, just don't have the key in until you are done.

I've got the factory tow package, so i've got the blue wiring connector under the dash. I my brake controller came with a custom harness that lets it plug into the blue connector under dash. Since I got my truck used, is the connector in the glovebox an extension, or what does it do?
