Need advice on 06 I just bought

Bought a 06 3500 SRW QV LB 6 speed manual, 4x4, 184K
I'll change all the fluids.
I fixed the broken wires in driver rear door with help from this forum!!
Did this year have any problem areas?
What things should I check or change?
How long do injectors last? I think it has the original ones.
I hand calculated the mpg - 20 which is about what I got with an 03.
Thanks in advance

The rear brake light on the cab or the rear window seal tend to leak. Mine started leaking again right before I left for work. I need to adress it when I get home in a week. I have an 08, but I thing that's a pretty common 3rd gen issue.
Where are you in colorado?

The only real issue I've had with mine in 85k miles is the tach quit working some time ago. I understand this is a common issue with this year. I have not made any wild mods to mine,or lifted it. I maintain it regularly and drive sensibly (well most of the time.)
I've seen some complain of trans issues and/or the death wobble. I've had neither. Knock on wood!
As far as the a fore mentioned rear window leak I've not had any trouble. Of course I do live in CA and I guess it would need to rain before I find that out!

I hope you have many trouble free miles with your new ride. Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies
Kerry
I'll check the seals. The driver window seal makes noise - I get a new one. I'm near Beulah, about 45 minutes, SW of Pueblo. I'm in GJ now and then. Bought my 96 Cummins from Woolard ?? in Montrose

My tach works, but is way wrong. The overhead is way wrong - says I'm getting 40 MPG. I calculated 20.

I just put on 285 70 17. Using the freeway markers, the speedo is now low by 3.6%
Cheers

40 mpg!!! Holy cow!!! I haven't heard of one that far off.
Death wobble is pretty common. I haven't experienced it yet either. From what I've been reading several people have narrowed it down to BFG tires. I've never run them, so I couldn't say.
I know where woolard is in montrose. They been there for years. I hear good things about them though.
There's a pretty recent thread on here about adding cat fuel filters. Check that one out. Good insurance for the injectors. That will be next mod.

I'm not going to attack the mileage Kerry, I promise.

In 120K I've had the following common problems...

Tranny rebuild
2 Injectors (one cracked body, one failed solenoid)
FCA (Fuel Control Actuator)
All Tie Rods
Whacky Tach (Solder on board cracks causing RPM's to not be correct)
Multi-Function switch
Broken Rear Door Wires

Everything else was less common/oddball stuff, also the Tranny is only listed as common due to the mileage it occurred at 115K'ish.

Thanks for the replies.
What is Fuel Control Actuator. What does it do and where is it located?

Does the broken rear door wires typically affect the windows, door locks, speaker or all? I lost a rear speaker a while ago, haven't looked into it, but the power windows and locks work fine.

I think it affects all of those. Do a search, you'll some posts on the subject.
I had 5 broken wires - what a lousy design. I slit open the corrugated rubber tube that the wires are in. I stripped the two ends of each broken wire and soldered them together. Electrical taped each solder and then put the wires back in the rubber corrugated thingy. And then electrical taped that piece. I also removed the rubber piece / stopper in the door so the wires could move a bit when the door is closed. I don't know if that is a good idea but the original design is what caused the broken wires. So I thought I would try a different way. Good luck.

Thanks, I'll check it out before tearing into the speaker.
