NE Dealer and Delivery time
From all the delivery time threads, there appears to be a big delivery time variation based on the dealer's relationship with DC. I need to special order a MegaCab 2500, 6 speed manual, and want it for a trip in July, cutting it close at 12 weeks. Is there a dealer in the Boston MA - Manchester NH area that has a better than average reputation for delivery time? If I'm going to role the dice I mite as well give me as good a chance as I can.
Thanks

Stay on top of whatever dealer you choose...YOU are the project manager!
You want to know the following (this is not complete, by any means):
1) Deposit needed by the dealer to order for you
2) When the factory accepts the order
3) Lead time from order acceptance to delivery (at the dealer)
4) Weekly updates (either you call the dealer or they call you)
5) Confirmation when the truck ships from the factory
6) Rail car number (yes, you can get it and can track it) There is a website available. The UPRR was posted when I ordered mine. East coast may use a different company; someone should be able to post the info for you.
7) What is the dealers relationship with the local trucking company? i.e. do they just roll over because the trucking co. is union, or can they escalate delivery of the vehicle.
8) You want to work with someone in fleet. How many vehicles has the salesman ordered? If this is their first order, let them learn, but you need a seasoned person handling the order.
9) When the vehicle arrives, go over it, using a checklist. I have one I can email to you, if you like.
There's probably a LOT more, this is just what I remember from last month.
