Navigation 07: Does the system always need the DVD to read it?
Have a friend that bought a used 07 with Navigation and it doesn't work. He says he needs the DVD to make it work. I figured it was loaded with the map information when it was new and then it stays that way without needing the DVD. Or, does the system continuously read the DVD and you need it all the time?

What is an REC unit? He has the Laramie model, so whatever Navigation unit comes with that model. Are you confirming that the unit needs the disc all the time? How do these work----does the disc go in like an audio CD goes in?

Thats the radio he has, REC, and yes, it needs the CD in the little slot for the nav disc, theres a little cover, pry it off from the little tab then insert the cd and it stays in there all the time. The nav disc slot is seperate from the rest of the unit and doesnt use any of the other 6disc slots...
