My Ram was wrecked!
No one was hurt in this accident. No air bags deployed in either vehicle. I collided with a lady who ran a red light. She had a pretty new Subaru Legacy. We were both probably doing about 30-40 mph. Now for the pics.
As you can see this is a very extensive and expensive fix. The shops estimate came in at $13,288. Because it was her fault, her insurance company is footing the bill. They are replacing every piece of sheet metal on the front end and the entire frame. The frame was tweaked beyond repair. I am just glad her insurance company realized that. In the last picture you and see the rear drivers side window is bagged up. The body shop had my truck for about a week and it was broken into in their overflow lot that is not locked up, but is very well lit. Nothing was taken, but you can start to get a pretty good idea of the kind of luck that I have. While all of this work is being done, Im also having them put on the fog lights, cab clearance lights, and the front tow hooks.

That is one of the inherent problems with these trucks. they hold their value and are worth alot of money. So it is hard to total one. I would rather have a new one then a rebuilt one.

Wow thay went all out on that repair!! They totalled my buddys 05 and all it did was lay it on its side in a ditch. I gues some insurance would rather "total it" and sell it for parts or something else. He got a complete replacement but was ****** because he had to get the "ugly 06 frontend"

Believe me, I was hoping they would total it. But I guess insurance laws state that to total a vehicle the damages must be greater than 80% of the vehicles total value.

You need to recieve a check from the insurance company BEFORE you settle with them. Your truck will trade in for several thousand dollars less and you need to be compansated for this loss of value. You will be asked at trade whether it has had body work. You can lie and open your self up to litagation or disclose this, in which case they will lower the value of your trade.

As I like to say:
'If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!'
Glad to see no one was hurt! And it's good you got a new frame, fixing that could have led to future problems and no one wants there Ram to be a Ford!

Glad everyone is ok.. Thats why I like my wife driving our truck, sits higher, big engine in front. I have seen alot of accidents where the one in the truck usually fares better. Will the insurance company cover the lost value? just wondering. if you go to trade in you could see a 3 to 4 grand loss .Good luck with everything. I think of an old saying "id rather fix truck parts than body parts!".

With that amount of repair, I would have demanded that they total it, and be done with it. I had $4500 worth or repair to my truck, and the only reason my insurance fixed it instead of totaling it was because the frame was not bent. They told me that if the frame had bent, they would have totaled it.

Like Posm stated though, your resell value will be much less now due to the damage. Since they didn't "total it" I'm guessing there isn't a salvage title though?

Did your intercooler get wrecked?? If it did I would look into getting aftermarket one!! Insurance company shouldn't care as long as it doesn't cost more. And if it does might be worth a few extra bucks to upgrade
