I have 46,000 on my 04.5 and I get 22MPG empty highway driving like a responsible adult, about 18mpg acting like a kid. City is around 13-14mpg. Towing a 7,000# travel trailer I get 13mpg highway...ALL HAND CALC!!!!
You may want to do a search for the tone ring mod for your 04.5. I belive this really help my mpg.

I do lots of city driving around here and I average about 14 mpg. When I'm on the highway though I get about 17 (empty) when I'm doing 70-75. ( I like driving fast.. )I've got about 3k on the truck so hopefully it will get a little better.
I've found the overhead is pretty accurate as long as I reset it at each fill up but I still hand calc everything.
