moving south would like opinions
ok i bought my land in nicaragua so im moving down there.
questions are ?
should i sell my baby and buy a toyota hilux (diesel tacoma)
or can i set my truck up to withstand most of the abuse from the roads down there
i am worried about ball joints, tie rod ends, hub bearings, steering system
i was thinking i can go with carli or don thuren for all my suspension needs but can those suspensions last everyday pot holes and rock roads for a long period of time and what upgrades can be done to the steering (hydro assist ) if i can adapt it
convert to free spin hubs that would elimanate the worry of unit bearings
im just worried im going to bring my baby down there and destroy it in 2 months ive already went through 4 sets of balljoints, 2 steering boxes, tie rod ends,2 track bars and thats just from driving 35%fire roads the rest on road
so do i sell my beloved truck or can i build it to withstand the abuse of the baja 1000 (nica roads are like the baja 1000 everywhere you go)
thanks all in advance for your insight

i have a 1984 hj60 here in the states and see them down there but its a simmillar set up as the dodge (straight axles) but also i need a truck.the hilux is ifs not so good for hard core off road but you can haul *** and suck up the bumps, but also a gutless terd i want my cummins down there so im not always floored in 5th gear going 100 kph with 5 people in it but i think that my dodge will fall apart if not outfitted correctly even then i feel it will still take a hard beating
ball joints are still factory replaced by dealer everytime

hmm... I've got a 1984 FJ60 wagon too. excellent truck! mileage s*ucks though. that's the main reason I ended up with CTD
sure wish FJ60 diesels were available in states. my 97 CTD is 4x, but FJ60 drives way better off road. they may both be solid axle, but FJ60 uses a giant knuckle joint bathed in oil.
bottom line is toyota are way more durable off road. but CTD has it all over toyota for mileage and hauling.
