This might be a stupid question...

I am looking to take the black plastic trim piece off the bottom of the front bumper of my truck.. Its cracked, and I never really liked the way it looked. My question is, does anyone know how to get that piece out? It looks like its held in there by some square clips, but Im not sure how to get those to pull out. Any help is appreciated.

Mine came off pretty good when I ran it through a ditch...
I think that they just pull out. It snapped back in place when I had pulled it off.

Just hook it on a hard snow bank and it peals right off by itself - mine did, and cracked.

Now, more seriously..........just try to pull - if it's already damaged, you won't have to worry about damaging it anymore. Or, slide a large, flat screwdriver in betweeen and near the clips........twist the screwdriver...........it'll start to come.

On edit: I haven't looked if there are any bolts - I didn't care! The whole bumper was coming off anyway to put my full replacement aluminum bumper on.

I did mine a while ago and my memory is fuzzy right now...I know it took a while to get off...

you have to turn the bolt and hold the top of it also by wraping your hand up and around the chrome bumper. I also put a 3.4 inch or 1 inch bolt and a nut on the edges of the bumper b'c that part also holds the wheel well in place

It's either a 8 or 10mm bolts that hold the airdam on. Access the bolts from the backside of the bumper.

I busted one of the clips on mine but still haven't pulled it completely off, looks like there are quite a few who've busted it off

I looked at mine, and only saw one bolt directly in the center, and clips holding on the rest of it. I guess I will take a look at it closer tomorrow. Any more suggestions are always appreciated.

Can't actually see the bolts, I had to feel for them with my hand. The bolts around the foglamps are the toughest to get to, if I remembered correctly.

Ditto!

Removed the remnants with an open end wrench (8mm?) on the nut and a socket on the bolt (there's like 10 of them if I remember right).

Want to replace it with an aluminum skid plate to protect the tranny cooler lines, saw one on the other Dodge forum website a couple of years ago.

I really don't like the bolts that are held in by clips on the bottom.. What a PITA that is. I ended up sticking a screwdriver in at the bolts, and breaking the thing off, and for now, the bolts are sticking down. I can't seem to get an open ended wrench in there to get the bolts out. If it comes down to it, I will just take a grinder or sawzall to the ends of the bolts that are sticking down to make them flush with the bottom of the bumper. Thanks for the encouragement guys.. took all of 10 minutes to rip edited by admin off
