Michelin LTX A/T2 tries
#6
I have about 20k on my Michelin LTX A/T2 tires and really like them.
The grip wet was much better than the stock Michelin tires. The tries were a little more road noise, a guess is 2x compaired to stock. You only notice the noise in the summer with the windows down (rare around here this year ).
In the winter I didn't have to use 4 wheel drive on every snow fall, 2-3" I would just not even bother engaging the front.
After 20k on the tires the wear is not a problem I got 60k on the first set I guess the same on these too. I mounted my tires with the lettering facing the inside, really not to wild about tire lettering.

I run the AT/2 tires on both trucks noted in my signature and have been very pleased with their overall performance. I definately observed a big improvement over the stock LTX tires in regards to traction in wet grass and loose road surfaces. I felt that the stock LTX tires were a very good highway tire that wore like iron; albeit, lacked grip that a tire with a more aggressive tread pattern would provide. In addition to grip, I searched for a tire that would wear as well but perform significantly better than the stock LTX tires did and gambled that the ATX 2 would fit the bill.
My 01.5 currently has 37000 miles on the Michelin AT/2s which are wearing like iron. They perform very well and have exceeded my expectations. I would expect to get at least 75,000 miles out of them. The AT/2s on my 03 have gone 20000 miles so far with very little wear. I would like to get 75000 miles out of them as well. Given their condition so far, it appears that this goal is within reach.

I switched to the AT2s long before the original BFGs were done - for the improved winter traction. After 10 months:
- winter traction does seem better than the BFGs (but it's hard to tell how much because you can never do a side by side compare on the same roads)
- the AT2s seem to hum a little more at speeds more than 65 mph - not a big deal, just a little more noise
- one tire had to be replaced because of flaws in the sidewall - bubbles and voids began to appear along the line where the side wall and tread plies come together. Don't know how significant this would have been - the Sears store where I bought them agreed it didn't look right and replaced it under warranty. Keeping a close eye on the others but I suspect it was just a problem with that one tire.
Overall I am pleased and would do it again
