messed up paint under emblem?
I debadged my truck this last weekend using fishing line, followed by 3m adhesive remover, and they all came out great, except for the drivers door 2500 heavy duty emblem. Under the emblem I found an approximately one inch by one inch spot that looks like the clear is bleached out, or cloudy? has anyone else found this? anyone think this is something i can take my truck back to the dealer and gripe about? the truck is almost a month old. and i know its not from the process of taking the emblem off.

Same thing under my cummins decals on both sides. I debadged all the rest of my truck and nowhere else was like this.
Looking for a little input as well now that you started a thread.

Don't think the dealer will fix that without charging you, they will say you did it when you removed the emblem. Have you tried buffing it out or using a compound on it?

gives the truck a cleaner look, and also makes waxing and such easier to do as you don't have to get into the corners of the letters like on the RAM, or BIG HORN EDITION on my tailgate

I have not tried using a buffing compound but may this weekend weather permitting, I will see what the dealer has to say about it, but i am banking on them trying to blame it on me. but i know its nothing I did. the rest of the area under that emblem, and all the others is flawless. just that one small square. I dunno. if i cant get it out, then I will put my Cummins emblems back over the spot, and on the other door to match.

I had the same thing under my 3500 emblems on both doors. It's just really a build up of road grim. I lightly buffed, by hand, the area with rubbing compound. Then went over it with Meguiar's Swirl & Haze Remover to remove the small marks from the compound. After that, a coat of wax and it's all gone. If it doesn't work by hand, a machine buffer should do the trick.

A buffing wheel(not an oribital polishing wheel you get at the local big box store) will cure your paint issues. If you don't have one, "bellyup" and get one. There are true buffing wheels you can get that use a random orbit feature to make it less likely to burn the paint. Get one that has varible speeds and that will lessen the chance of burning the paint. Just take it easy and make sure tha paint doesn't get hot from the wheel. Get on that has a Velcro-type attaching for the bonnets- use sponge.
Great investment.

When I did mine and got the major black junk off there was still a discolored area. It was a very thin layer of clear glue. This might be what you are seeing. Try a little more 3M adhesive remover and then scratch it with your fingernail or a plastic putty knike. I finally rubbed mine with Maguires car wax on a shop rag and off it came. I hope yours cleans up too. Mine cleaned up to where I cannot see where the badges were.
