Mega/Quad cab length

Mega/Quad cab length
I am looking for info on the 2005 3500 SRW trucks. Is the Megacab short bed the same total truck length as the Quad cab long bed? Do they make a quad cab short bed? I am finding the terminology is being used interchangebly on the net and it is hard to figure out what is really out there.

I believe they are the same length and they do make a short bed for quad cabs. I have owned both and would go Mega every time from here on out. My other truck was a 2007 QC Long Bed 2wd (thats why it is gone) and stumbled across a Mega 4wd and I don't miss the long bed and love the cab. My son just turned 14 and is 6'2'' and we need the cab room. He was under 6 foot when I traded it in and his knees killed my back on trips thru the seat.

thanks. I am looking for a 4wd 2005 in a 3500 SRW truck that will pull a 32 foot fifth wheel. Kids are gone but maybe trips with grandkids. The short bed is attractive in that it is easier to drive around town and park when not trailering. I would need a slider hitch with that one. If the short bed mega is the same length as the quad cab long bed, I don't gain anything there. I would be better looking for a quad cab short bed but those are harder to find I expect.

I have a 08 Mega Cab and this model has the same wheel base as the Quad Cab Long Bed truck. But the box is 6.5' which is the short bed for these trucks.
I am pulling a 5er with my 08 2500HD Mega Cab using a manual slider hitch. The length of a 5er really has nothing to do with pulling the 5er it is the weight of the 5er and the pin weight that is placed on the rear axle that matters. For a 3500 SRW truck with a 4:10 rear end for the MY 06 truck can pull a 15,200 LBS trailer. The GCVW for that model equipped with an automatic is 23,000 LBS.

I tow a 5th wheel with my QC short box, I have a manual slider but have not used it yet as with the new trailers with the tappered corners you can turn pretty sharp. my trailer is 35 ft 8 in and around 12k loaded. I tow from just below Alaska to Arizona and back every winter, works great. good luck
