Mega Cab Dually- paint chips on fender
Question to anyone else with a mega cabd ually.
I have noticed (truck only has about 1200 miles) that I already have chips missing from the paint on the front of the fenders. It seems rocks from the front tire get thrown right into the fender. I wish they would have put some type of a clear protectant layer of the front of the fender. Anyone else notice this?

JD Dearden: Thats a great idea! Looks good too.
My 03 has the same problem, they must use really cheap paint on these things. I live on a dirt road so mine is getting new chips all the time.

That stuff is the best thing ever invented. The brand I used is Reflex bed liner. I would reccomend them very strongly, I have done this on two trucks and never had a problem. On my new Dodge ther wrapped it all the way to the pinch weld and behind the bumper.

3M makes a 3-5 mil thk clear protective coating that can be applied anywhere. Most of the car detailing and window tinting places carry it here in the Northwest. The person I spoke to about it will do the bottom panels up to the trim strips both sides of the truck for $500.00. comes with a lifetime guarantee. The product is clear and comes with adhesive already on it. The vehicles I have seen with this protective coating applied, it is hard to tell it is even there, you can see the edge line and that is about all. I plan on having my truck done prior to winter.
I agree about the finish on the trucks, not so great but the engines aren't so bad, makes up for the finish I think.

I have about 1500 miles on my mega dually and also have chips on the rear fenders. The mega's seem much more prone to getting the chips than the longbeds with the big fenders do. I dont like the looks of front mud flaps at all, even though I know it would be a solution. I will be heading to the auto parts store soon to get some touch up paint because it looks like I'll be needing it on a regular basis.
