It's a convenience factor, if your in busy city traffic or stop-n-go freeway traffic, I think the 48RE is the way to go. It is a great transmission and will tow 10K+ without a problem. They are quick and as far as future BOMBing, you might be plenty happy with the stock from the factory 325/610 AND still keep your warranty in-tact.

Well, I have a 48RE and use it awfully hard on a back country desert mountain ranch I pull 16K goosenecks in 4 x 4 low and high everyday up 8% off road mountain canyon grades. 60K and not a problem. Personally, I wouldn't go back to a manual shift or a manual transfer case. I've had both.
