Major difference between 05 and 06...??

Althought I'm looking to purchase an 06 (automatic tranny)

An 05 has presented itself with a few more creature comforts and about the same price ands mileage.

Is the look the same (something about the nose changing in 06?)

Was the automatic transmission upgraded in 06...

Sorry for all the questions, but i just want to make the right choice.

Thanks

They changed the front end alittle in 06, headlights, grill and front bumper. As far as the tranny goes, it might be a slight difference, I'm not sure. The only thing that I didn't like in 05, is half the year they had plastic end caps on there innercoolers and then they went with all metal ones since then. So if you do decide with the 05, check the innercooler. Some guys have had problems and some have not. I blew mine apart where the tanks are crimped to the core. Then again I was pushing 45psi of boost through it too. Hope this helps alittle.

Question

They did some upgrades to the tranny in 06. I think they made the pump gears bigger etc. Also the towl haul is diffrent in the 05 to the 06.The 06 had 2 settings in tow haul. one was tow haul and the next setting you could lock out over drive.I do not think you can do that with the 05. best of luck on your truck hutting. I find your signatures interesting. Lots of "secret code" in them....

Highgear, can you tell me about the mods you've done to your truck

''afe stage 2/w proguard, cfm, autometer pyro, egt, tran gauges, SMARTY REVO, bd-power intercooler, suncoast valve body, mbrp cat delete and muffler"

Thanks

Also in 06, the Jake brake was factory approved for the auto. In earlier 48RE's the jake could be added, but with an aftermarket controller.

The 06 seats are different. The heated seats I believe no longer has a digital control module, and there is no power lumbar.

Also, 06's got the totally integrated power module. There is a TSB about reprogramming the module to bump cut off for trailer lights from 15 amp to like 17.5, and to prevent the module from setting an error code (it can only be reset 5 times).

In 06 the headlights are changed. And the inerior is completely different, most 06's have woodgrain in them, but the entire interior is different from the 05's.

They are just basic mods rbertalotto. The only reason I bought the innercooler is because I broke the factory one and convinced the wife I had to have it. I bought the valve body because I thought it would shift better and raise line pressure to keep from slipping. If I was to do over again, I would just get a new tranny or install a new torque converter when I put the valvebody in. Other then that I can't complain.

Everything above and also changes in weatherstripping and sound deadening to make the cab quieter.

If you ever pull heavy or go to the mountains, get the 06'. As said before it is approved for an exhaust brake and also programmed to be integrated with downshifts when one is installed. 05' s won't do that. Also, some internal tranny upgrades to compensate for exhaust brake use.
