Mag Hytec Aftermarket Tranny. Pan

I just ordered the deep tranny pan for my '05 with a 48RE. Is anyone here using this pan, and if so what is your opinion of it? Mine is the deep pan which is a 9 quart capacity.
Thanks.

I have one on my truck. When I installed mine I flushed the system. It took 18 qts to fill it back up.

Not much you can say about a pan. It's cool looking, deep and has a port for the trans temp probe

Taking my mag hytec off today ,been keeping track of my trans. temps they are the same as the stock pan after driving for 15 to twenty miles .trying a pan designed for cooling. dont know if the new pan will work or not. I think the mag pan would work great on a race or pulling truck because of the higher capasity,if the new pan does not lower temps im going with a cooler with a fan.

I don't think the Mag Hytec will really cool the oil. I think it will keep the temps from going up too high since there is more oil to heat. Of course if you don't want it I'll buy it.

I noticed temps 10* to 15* cooler on my truck after installing the Mag-Hytec pan. Even when pulling the 5th wheel the temps are lower than before.

changed my mag hytec today put on a derale high capacity with cooling tubes. today was the hottest day of the year in virginia an the trans ran 14 degrees cooler that the mag hytec ever has .its kind of common sence when you think about it extra oil alone cant make it cooler for very long, you need some way to cool the oil over a long period. an i saved 150.00 dollars by changing pans .the mag hytec was pretty an well made.

Yes, but it doesn't look like they make one for the 48RE.

I just had the local 4x4 shop order me one.. I tow extensively and though this product wouldn't hurt plus I am looking into a new 40 foot trailer so anything to keep temps down... Right now I run around 150 going down the interstate at 80..

Chrysler 727 model "should" work. My MagH is listed as a 727 model. I think the 727 is the model the 48RE and 4RE is built from.

I am happy with my MH DD pan. Seems to keep the fluid cooler in the Summer months here in HOT Texas. I have towed my 5th wheel and utility trailer (double towing) on many 100 + degree days and the temps were fine. Maybe 200 degrees max.

Daily driving (no towing) in all but the summer months, the temps stay really low.

Drain plug and tranny temp probe are also nice bonuses.

Thanks for the replies. Is there a drain on our stock torque converters for the 48re?? Also, what is the correct fluid for my '05???? Thanks again.

Is anyone else useing the Derale pan? This is new to me and looks like it would be a better setup for cooling extra oil and the cooling tubes is interesting. Can you guys who have this give us a little more info about it quality / cost / temps... I worry about it leaking with those tubes...
