Who has run their 3rd gen tank low enough for the low fuel light to come on? How much was left in the tank and did you get an audible warning chime??

5-7 gallons are left, per the manual (I think) and experience

I get a chime plus the light, and it will take 27.5 gallons to fill up.

This happened to me on state highway 93 in northern NV in the middle of the night while looking for an open fueling station. Got a chime and the light. Came on when the needle was at around an 1/8th of a tank and the DTE on the overhead was still reading around 60 miles give or take a few. This was while towing so the DTE probably would have read higher had the last few tanks been run unloaded.

My light comes on when I can put about 31-32 gallons in. This is filling to the neck, so I know it is full. I have the "34" gallon tank, which in reality holds about 37-38, IF you fill it all the way up.

Coming home from Canada at 2am no stations in sight I got to the border, just before the 1000 Islands bridge it finally goes to "0" on the overhead. I pulled over we shut it down and were out of options, while sitting in the truck after we had decided to sleep at the gas station (practically under the bridge), I broke out my manual for some reading. I found out that once the overhead says "0", you have about 3-4 gallons of fuel in "reserve". Started her up and went 37 painstaking miles after it read zero to fill up. I love telling that story........I love this truck! Read the manual I think it says 8-10% of the tank is reserve or something to that effect.

I do it all the ime around home. I run for about 2-3 days after the light comes on then put in the 10 gallons I have in the bed.
Yes the darn thing will ding, once and every time yu start the engine and the lamp comes on. If you listen to your music on EXTREMLY loud then you may miss it.

Depending on how far you run it after it comes on then you will get about 28-34 gallons in the tank.

I hadn't had it come on until today. It was just about to empty. Took 26 gallons (but I only fill till it clicks off, I don't try to dribble in more). Got a chime and a light.

On a trip from my (then) home in the Florida Keys to Sturgis, I ran 810 miles on ONE tank of fuel. I went 100 miles with the low fuel light on and 50 miles with DTE showing "0". I put in 37.1 gallons (yes, I got 21.8 mpg). This was on my '04 shortbed "34" gallon tank. I have Dave Kelley's vent kit installed so my tank fills very quickly and completely. I had a five gallon can of diesel in the bed. I was intending to run it until it sputtered, pour in the can, head for the nearest fuel stop and find out just how big the tank really is. I got to the exit for my sister's house in Rapid City before any sign of running out, so STILL don't know how much it really holds.

FYI, the owner's manual tells you how much fuel you have left at low fuel light on and TE = 0.
